CCA Community Service Club information

BELOW IS AN EMAIL TO POTENTIAL MEMBERS SENT OUT IN AUGUST 2017

Hey there everyone,
My name is Leigh Bell and I am the Academic Counselor at CCA and I am sponsoring the high school’s CCA Community Service Club.
Students who are truly interested in membership will need to complete 30 total hours of community service by May 2018. 15 hours of those total 30 hours must be completed at our official community service events that I organize and supervise. I realize that each member may not be able to attend every single event we have, but they should make every effort to attend as many as possible within their extracurricular schedule. There is no transportation provided to any of these community service events. Students & parents are responsible for getting students to each event. Students are welcome to carpool with one another to these events.
I encourage students & their parent/guardian need to sign up for push notifications, texts, and/or emails using my CCA Community Service Remind group that I’ve created (SEE ATTACHED DOCUMENTS AT THE VERY BOTTOM). This is the best way I can communicate information about our events, so please sign up ASAP for this communication (see directions attached).

Some of our fall events will be these below:

1) The Miracle of High Point Baseball Buddy program (http://www.hpmiracleleague.org/) on Friday, Sept. 15th from 5:30 pm-8:30 pm, Saturday, Sept. 30th (8:30am-1:30pm), Friday, Sept. 30th (5:30pm-8:30pm).  Their location is: Miracle League Field
2917 School Park Road, High Point, NC 27265. This is located off Johnson Road near Hwy. 74/311.

2) Out of the Garden Volunteer Project (http://www.outofthegardenproject.org/volunteer-time/) on Wed., Oct. 4th and Wed., Nov. 8th from 6-8pm.  They are located at 300 South Hwy. 68 on the back corner of the C3 Church (below the new Hilton Garden Inn). Members are welcome to volunteer any time at Out of the Garden and count these as some of their 15 official club hours.  If you are under 16 though, you must have a parent with you in the warehouse to volunteer.  Use their Sign Up Genius on their website to pick a volunteer date and sign up (http://www.outofthegardenproject.org/volunteer-time/).  Make sure you get your documentation log filled out by the Out of the Garden supervisor at the end of the volunteer session in order to count those hours: Documentation of Volunteer Activity

3) Hot Dish & Hope at First Presbyterian Church (http://www.fpcgreensboro.org/serve/hot-dish-hope) on Tuesday, Oct. 17th from 5:15-7:15 pm.  Students will serve meals to financially disadvantaged individuals and families.  Meet Ms. Bell at their Life Center on the Greene Street side of their church.  You can park in the parking lot of Faith In Action House across the street from the church.  The church’s address is 617 N. Elm Street in Greensboro, NC  27410.
