North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM)- for 10th graders

10th graders: North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM) is a two-year, public residential high school located in Durham, North Carolina that focuses on the intensive study of science, mathematics and technology. The school accepts rising juniors from across North Carolina and enrolls them through senior year. Though NCSSM is a public school, enrollment is limited, and applicants undergo a highly competitive review process prior to admission. Additionally, 2018 graduates of NCSSM that attend a UNC system college/university will receive the NCSSM Tuition Grant for their freshman year only which covers the cost of tuition for the 2018/2019 school year.

*Applicants in the 10th grade MUST register on their own & take the SAT test on Sat., December 2, 2017 (  The deadline to register for the Dec. 2nd SAT is Thursday, Nov. 2nd.  Through the application process, students additionally must obtain teacher and counselor evaluations and submit their most recent high school transcript.

Eligible applicants may apply to either NCSSM’s residential or online program, or both, using one electronic application. There is no cost to apply and no tuition for either program.

In order to complete the 2017-2018 application process and be considered for the NCSSM Class of 2020, potential applicants must complete ALL of the requirements within the required time frames:
