Weekly Update #16 January 2, 2018

Hello Parents!

Thank you for all of the wonderful holiday and birthday gifts!  Your generosity was greatly appreciated! I hope everyone enjoyed their break!  We got a puppy, so I can’t exactly say that mine was a restful break! :)

Here are some updates and important information:

-I loved seeing over the break that many students utilized compass! Remember, each students is required to complete two activities each week.

-Please make sure that you are logging reading in the RED reading bag.  You only need to list the assigned book for the week.  Please continue to practice letter sounds.

-Please have your child complete the extension activities in skills homework: they really benefit from the writing practice.  Thank you to those who are already doing this!

Here is an overview of what we will learn this upcoming week:

Math: We will begin our short unit on patterns. We will recognize, extend and create patterns by color, shape, and size.

Domain (Listening and Learning): We will begin Domain 6 Native Americans.  Students will learn about general information about Natives Americans and the Lakota Sioux Tribe.  They will use the following vocabulary: shelter, agile, mischief.

Skills: The students will continue to review the sounds that they’ve learned.   They will continue to practice the Alphabet and learn letter names.  They will also  blend and read four –sound words with initial or final consonant clusters (trip/sand).  Students will continue reading in their KIT readers.
I look forward to seeing you soon!
