Leigh Bell's Biography

Hello, my name is Leigh Bell and I am the high school counselor at Cornerstone Charter Academy. I have over 21 years experience in Education. I graduated from Kings Mountain High School in Cleveland County (about 45 minutes west of Charlotte) and went to Appalachian State University on a Teaching Fellows Scholarship. I then graduated in Dec. 1996 with a BS in Biology, Secondary Education. I taught four years of Biology at Burns High School (1996-2000) in Cleveland County while working on my Master's in School Counseling at Gardner-Webb University graduating with my Master of Arts in School Counseling in August 2001.  I am also a National Board Certified Counselor, first achieving certification in 2004 and then completing my re-certification in 2014.

I started my counseling career back in 2000 at my high school alma mater, Kings Mountain HS, and left in June 2014 after my husband, Michael, was offered a job at Tencarva in Greensboro in June 2014.  In my 14 years as a senior counselor at Kings Mountain High School, I worked with all students and parents on college admissions, financial aid, high school curriculum planning, enrichment opportunities, etc.  I also worked with students with academic planning and personal issues as well. I have two daughters, ages 10 & 7 (Reese and Alex Kate), a cat named Chloe (age 14) and I live in Oak Ridge, NC (just 10 minutes north from CCA's campus).
