Alex Peabody's Biography

Hello Cornerstone Families,

Welcome to a new school year!  I would like to introduce myself as the fifth grade homeroom teacher for your child.  Through my education and experiences, I have learned the best educational practices for ensuring that your child achieves his or her fullest academic growth and continues to grow as a citizen.  I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Mississippi and Master of Arts degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.

Before embarking on this wonderful and meaningful profession, I served with the U. S. Navy as both an aviator and aviation maintenance officer.  I had the chance to grow professionally and travel to many countries and experience a variety of cultures.  My adventures in the Navy have taken me to:  both coasts of the United States, Spain, Italy, Asia, Australia, and the Persian Gulf (I've also been to Central and South America on my own time).  I left the active component of the Navy in 2003 after nine years of service.  I was recalled to active duty for a year in 2013 to command an unmanned aerial vehicle detachment in Afghanistan.  I am still active in the Navy Reserve, serving at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, which is the test and development center for Naval Aviation.

As we journey through the fifth grade curriculum, I want your child to have a positive mental attitude and to realize that he is capable of learning and achieving goals.  We will work together to attain your child's potential, academically and socially.  I encourage you to support your child in his/her academic endeavors throughout the year, as this will result in a remarkable difference in performance and happiness.

This year will be a successful educational period for your child.  I am privileged to be in the position to teach your child and I take that responsibility seriously.  This will be an enjoyable year for all of us!

Please check my website routinely for upcoming events, class schedule, and daily homework assignments.  My preferred method of communication is email (  Please contact me any time that you have a question or concern.
